Meet Maria Chiara

Maria Chiara is an eclectic storyteller with a background in criminal law and experience as kink educator and volunteer EMT.

Maria Chiara brings a particular attention to the ethics of communication and a passion for the representation of vulnerable and underrepresented communities such as LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities or non-conforming bodies.

In her practice, Maria Chiara balances her years of experience writing and story editing TV shows for kids and tweens with her volunteer work as kink educator and community organizer, making her an adaptable and skilled professional with a grounded presence, attuned to the needs of the most vulnerable figures in the room.

Certified as intimacy coordinator by Intimacy Professionals Association through a SAG-AFTRA accredited training program, she leverages her eclectic background, drawing from multiple perspective to structure effective and impactful intimate scenes that best serve character and story according to the creative vision of the team. The cornerstone of her work is a clarity of processes, transparent communication and solid boundary negotiation to create a safe creative environment.

Maria Chiara’s years as a volunteer EMT left her with a complete deconstruction of shame around bodies and a keen ability to improvise solutions to unforeseen problems with scarce resources without compromising the safety and reasonable comfort of all people involved, skills that she brings to the shooting set to foster a collaborative environment.

The value of stories

There's always a story. It's all stories, really.

The sun coming up every day is a story.

Everything's got a story in it. Change the story, change the world

Terry Pratchett

Humans have been telling stories since the beginning of time. From words around the fire to novels and poems, from radio to film and TV the power of a good story has endured.

Fairy tales teach children about the world and other people. War movies and tales of resistance inspire collective movement towards change. Comedies speak truth to power and lighten the heart. Romances invoke the capacity for love in the darkest of times.

There is justice in the telling of stories, and one has to ask: whose stories are being told? What world is being spoken into existence?

Let’s tell mindful and powerful stories together.

All about intimacy coordination

Scenes involving nudity and simulated sex require expert support from an intimacy coordinator in the same way that athletic feats and physically challenging scenes require a stunt coordinator.

An IC helps translate directorial vision into action, negotiating the practical constraints and ensuring the physical and emotional safety of cast and crew throughout filming.

If your project involves nudity or simulated sex having an IC’s support is in order. You might also find it helpful to have one to navigate emotionally intimate scenes (especially when minors are involved), non sexual physical intimacy, intimate choreography, especially around unconventional sexual practices.
